Celebrating 100 Years of Landry's

Landry’s Bicycles becomes 100% employee-owned, also celebrates 100 years in business

Founded in 1922, Landry’s is now 100% employee-owned

March 2, 2022.   Landry’s Bicycles is pleased to announce the growth of its employee ownership through the sale of additional stock to the Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP). The company is now 100% employee-owned

As one of the longest running bike shops in America, Landry's was founded in 1922 and is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year. The company was owned and operated by the Landry Family from 1922–1974, then owned and operated by the Henry Family from 1975–2010. The company started to transition to ESOP ownership in 2010, and the 100% ESOP transaction was completed in January 2022.

Mark Gray, Landry’s general manager, commented on the recent ESOP transaction:  "As Landry’s Bicycles begins to celebrate our 100th year in business, we are extremely excited to become a 100% employee-owned company. Everyone who works at Landry’s is passionate about cycling and serving our valued customers. Becoming 100% employee-owned will help strengthen our commitments to collaborative teamwork, exceptional customer service, and long-term business viability, as we strive to be the best bike shop for the world. As we step courageously toward our highest aspirations, we are truly fortunate to work together as employee-owners in our company."

In addition to the company's 100% employee ownership and centennial anniversary, Landry’s is celebrating the recent opening of its eighth store location at the new Hood Park development in Charlestown, Massachusetts.

Starting in 2010, Landry's ownership transitioned to an ESOP (employee stock ownership plan), and all core staff now own shares in the company.
