My Daughter, Riley
Michelle D., Milton, MA"Why I ride? Easy answer — my daughter, Riley. Riley is currently 9 years old, but on her 5th birthday she was diagnosed with a genetic disorder called neurofibromatosis (NF). Following a series of tests we learned that Riley had multiple tumors (plexiform neurofibromas) in her head and neck. With nothing to do but watch and wait, I turned to biking — to spread awareness and raise funds for NF research. On Mother's Day, less than one year after Riley's diagnosis, another NF-mom and I bought bikes and we have been riding ever since. Riley, her brother, and her dad now also ride. Riley is why I started to ride; but, I continue to ride with my family, for all of those with NF, for health, and simply for the love of cycling!" Story posted May 2015. |
