2014 Trek Shift 4

Shift your thinking, shift your lifestyle and shift into fun with Trek's Shift 4. The Shift is the answer to people who think that riding may not be an option for them. A low, long geometry inspires confidence and gives you stability and control. A strong aluminum frame and durable components allow for riders up to 350 pounds. A comfortable bike is a ridden bike, so your Shift is equipped with an adjustable stem, upright bars, and a plush, supportive seat to allow the perfect position. If that wasn't enough, you have a suspension fork up front to smooth out any bumps in your path. Plus, this great bike sports 24 gears to top hills with ease and powerful linear-pull brakes for the ride back down. Heavy-duty wheels and puncture-resistant tires add peace of mind. Welcome back to riding, welcome back to the outdoors.

      Comments:

I got this bike to get myself back into shape and so far I'm fairly happy with it. Rides smooth, great gear options, and the suspension on the front fork has nice adjust ability. The only real gripe I have is a clicking in the front pedal/crank that I can not figure out. Brought it back to the dealer for a service and mentioned it, they tightened and lubed everything and it got quieter temporarily, but is back. Was told it could be the pedal/crank arms which they admit could be on the cheap side. A little research shows that riders of expensive bikes have these issues also and they could be almost anything in that area. still rides well, but i will most likely start upgrading that area as the noise can be a bit disheartening.

        Comments:

A brilliant bike for those who value the joy in the journey as much as the destination. The Trek Shift 4 is a strong, easily ridden, reliable, and beautiful machine. Smooth, robust, and easily the most comfortable bike I have ridden...ever. It is not built for great speed, though capable of that given the broad scope of gearing available. No, its purposeful upright rider postitioning and robust construction do not make for winnable races with the road bike set. And that is a fine thing, as its design is for a different experience. Even though this is built from aluminum, it is no lightweight. It is a well thought out balance of great strength and practical agility; engineered for those who are looking for a most pleasant riding experience and fun in doing so. With added panniers, rack, fenders, etc., the Trek Shift 4 is now even more capable at being the primary around town transportation for me. Daily commutes to work have now taken a lovely turn as I add an additional several miles each morning just to extend the experience and get in some pleasant exercise before work. And in just the last few weeks, I am 30+ lbs lighter, and the Trek Shift 4 is a prime factor in that change. A terrific bike all 'round! Oh, and lots of compliments on just how aesthetically pleasing it is. I agree completely!

I am 6'1"...395 lbs....I bought this bike to help with weight loss. I can not describe how much fun I'm having. Put some good music on my phone, pop in the ear buds, and just ride. I picked up a great book "Bike Your Butt Off" to help with the weight loss. Thank you Trek for making such a great bike. Thank you Parkersburg Bicycle Shop in Parkersburg, WV for helping me pick out the perfect bike for what I need.

If you are looking for a comfortable and versatile bike, the Shift 4 is your bike. So far I have only logged about 60 miles on this bike, mainly on bike trails and streets. And the one thing that I noticed is the comfortable ridding position and very comfortable saddle. Overall I am very happy with this bike. Cant wait to ride some more.

This bike is well made and comfortable. I can ride 10 miles in a pop. It is low maintenance and dependable. The pedals are forward 15 degrees which I find more comfortable than a regular bike.

          Comments:

I am over weight and have bad knees. I was looking for a bicycle that would handle my weight and provide exercise and cardio benefits. Went into my local bike shop (River Valley Sports, in Somerset WI.) and talked to Steve who took the time to answer my questions and actually fit me to the correct frame size. This purchase is the first time I've gone to a bike shop and it was a nice change having someone who actually knew how to provide a good fit to me. Despite having a "beefed up" frame and rims the bike is still easy to pick up and rolls very easily. The seat is comfortable and the handle bars can be adjusted to provide a riding position that is also very comfortable. The SHIFT 4 is not for off road nor will you win many races riding it but if you are on the large side and wish a comfortable bicycle for exercise or commuting this is a great bike!

Thank You Trek for building a bike that allows a heavy old guy to get out and ride! I've had the bike since December 11,2014 and have over 500 miles on it. I took it back to the shop where I bought it for a check up and everything was fine. So far, so good! I think it's gonna do fine for this Clydesdale.

              Comments:

Use to ride long distance touring. Got older and did not like the painful bent over riding position. Wanted hybrid or comfort bike but still wanted performance I got on touring bike. Test rode a lot of hybrid and comfort bikes and this one performed best and was very comfortable and pain free. I ride 30 to 40 miles on weekends (Rails to trails). Slight chain noise in some of the higher gear combos but i found I can tweak the thumb shifters on the front derailer to silence the issue. Bike built to handle big guys (290 lbs). Smooth stable ride. I am impressed with bike.
