2014 Trek Shift 4

Shift your thinking, shift your lifestyle and shift into fun with Trek's Shift 4. The Shift is the answer to people who think that riding may not be an option for them. A low, long geometry inspires confidence and gives you stability and control. A strong aluminum frame and durable components allow for riders up to 350 pounds. A comfortable bike is a ridden bike, so your Shift is equipped with an adjustable stem, upright bars, and a plush, supportive seat to allow the perfect position. If that wasn't enough, you have a suspension fork up front to smooth out any bumps in your path. Plus, this great bike sports 24 gears to top hills with ease and powerful linear-pull brakes for the ride back down. Heavy-duty wheels and puncture-resistant tires add peace of mind. Welcome back to riding, welcome back to the outdoors.

    Comments:

I am over weight and have bad knees. I was looking for a bicycle that would handle my weight and provide exercise and cardio benefits. Went into my local bike shop (River Valley Sports, in Somerset WI.) and talked to Steve who took the time to answer my questions and actually fit me to the correct frame size. This purchase is the first time I've gone to a bike shop and it was a nice change having someone who actually knew how to provide a good fit to me. Despite having a "beefed up" frame and rims the bike is still easy to pick up and rolls very easily. The seat is comfortable and the handle bars can be adjusted to provide a riding position that is also very comfortable. The SHIFT 4 is not for off road nor will you win many races riding it but if you are on the large side and wish a comfortable bicycle for exercise or commuting this is a great bike!

Thank You Trek for building a bike that allows a heavy old guy to get out and ride! I've had the bike since December 11,2014 and have over 500 miles on it. I took it back to the shop where I bought it for a check up and everything was fine. So far, so good! I think it's gonna do fine for this Clydesdale.

Use to ride long distance touring. Got older and did not like the painful bent over riding position. Wanted hybrid or comfort bike but still wanted performance I got on touring bike. Test rode a lot of hybrid and comfort bikes and this one performed best and was very comfortable and pain free. I ride 30 to 40 miles on weekends (Rails to trails). Slight chain noise in some of the higher gear combos but i found I can tweak the thumb shifters on the front derailer to silence the issue. Bike built to handle big guys (290 lbs). Smooth stable ride. I am impressed with bike.

Bike to and from work and around the town on urban adventures. Feels like I'm riding in a Cadillac. I'm a large framed person and the frame size is perfect for my size. Can ride for hours without any discomfort. Strongly recommend to others.

I'm 71! Haven't biked in 55 years. I'm 6'3" and 290 pounds. The shift 4 has proven to be a great bike to reintroduce me to a simple pleasure long forgot. I recommend it to others who perhaps want to ride again.

          Comments:

I'm a 45 year old father that wanted to go on rides with my 9 year old daughter. I haven't been on a bike since I was 13 and was concerned about back pain, leg cramps, etc.etc. While doing online research on various bike brands and types, I stumbled upon the Trek Shift 4. Wow, what a gorgeous looking bike that immediately grabbed my attention and my wallet. It's been three weeks since I brought her home and I can't get enough of how much fun riding this bike is. I'm even setting my clock to wake me at 4am so I can get an hour of riding before leaving for work. Everything about this bike screams comfort and fun. From the wonderful saddle, upright position, front suspension, to the ergo grips. The Shift 4 was designed with comfort in mind. The gear shifting is smooth and thumb shifters are so easy. The construction is top notch! I love how the cables are routed inside the frame and really add to the overall appearance of this cruiser. Adding accessories is a breeze as rack mounts and bottle cage mounts are already there. I had to think long and hard for a Con for this bike. The only thing that I can think of is maybe adding a rear suspension on the next model, The Shift 5. Other than that, this bike is as close to perfection that one could find in a comfort bike. Kudos to the entire Trek team on this one!

          Comments:

Looked at a lot of choices and found THE ONE. This bike wants me to ride it. I enjoy it's handling, shifting, comfort and feel of being in control when I ride. I have not ridden in years and the last bike I had was a one speed (me) . I am enjoying the selection of gears that make the ride SMOOTH & EASY. The seat fits my posterior perfectly, my riding position(upright) works well with my back. I am on the big side weight wise (235) and this bike handles it very we'll. All in all I feel I made the perfect choice, of course I have only clocked around 70-80miles but enjoyed every min.i spend on this TREK. OF COURSE THE BIKE DEALER I purchased it at was as solid as the bike, but that's another review at another time.
